Fama (2023)
sound sculpture, duration: 06:32 hours
Premiered in August 2023 during the 4. Britzenale, Berlin
Fama, also known as rumor, is a sound sculpture that blends elements of 18th-century vampirism with a fantastic narrative told from a non-human perspective. Every hour, the story is played only as a recording, embedded in bat calls made audible to human hearing, preserving its essence and secrecy, much like the elusive nature of a story told by word of mouth.
The bat calls were captured in Berlin Neukölln's Britzer Garten specifically for the "Britzenale" biennial exhibition. Moreover, the speakers were crafted to mimic the layout of the exhibition space within the Urban Forest Garden, with the intention of repurposing them as bat roosts, once the exhibition ends.
