N*A*I*L*S hacks*facts*fictions is a research group of beauticians; artists; care, cultural and social workers; activists; learners; translators; educators; and curators working in different constellations and partnerships depending on the occasion and context. As an artistic platform for critical body and care cultures, N*A*I*L*S thinks of the nail art/cosmetic salon as a queer site of critical, trans*cultural practices and solidarity connections.

In 2019 the N * A * I * L * S collective gathered different contributions that imagine the nail salon as a queer site of critical, trans-cultural practices and intersectional care politics in a magazine. Through the collected essays, interviews, collages and art works, nails are approached as a collective interface for getting in touch with the conditions liquefied in nail aesthetics and embodied in care work. The magazine was launched at DISTRICT Berlin.

The exhibition no stop non stop (2018) was the groups first travel to get in touch with Munichs public. In architectural structures, objects, videos, and encounters questions arise about queer potentials, economies, and identities, tired hegemonies and equal emancipation. During the exhibition, exchanges between artists, activists, and beauticians stay in motion and open themselves to visitors in conversational and manicuring transactions.
In 2020 the exhibtion Corneous Stories and workshops took place at Škuc Gallery, in the framework of the International Festival of Contemporary Arts – City of Women, Ljubljana.
